Rachael gave a great talk...

It was wonderful to hear from Rachael in church today... She did a great job and caused me to take off my glassess which means she caused me to cry.... I met with Brian in the morning while I was doing PPI's and had a great visit with him... I will not talk about what we talking about but he is a very special young man that our family and myself has grown very fond of... I am thrilled that Wade Malesich is officially a doctor for chiropracters... I wish he would work close to where we live.... He will be a Bishop in a very short time now, he's a natural.... Joshua taught a great lesson in Priesthood about missionary work... He and I are going to tract out his block because he had some strange dream about us doing it and how successful we were... I would like to go out in the evening when daylight saving times come so we can see as many people as we can and also that would be a kick to go out with your son and do that.... Venna is speaking at Ruth Good's funeral and they asked me to be a pallbearer and that is an honor that I will always cherish... I have been on Facebook a lot lately talking to some former students, that is really special but I do find the format a little disturbing... I am following a dream that I had over it and I hope that maybe some of my comments will touch some of my former students and friends about the gospel and will ignite some missionary activity.... I am bracing for a very special but busy week coming up... I want to go with Brian and Rachael to the temple the following week when it won't be so hectic.... I sure love my family and I feel so blessed to have them.... Night....39

A giant of a women passed away.... Grandma Good

I kind of expected it, but she seem like such an invincible woman while Venna and I grew up together... She was a hero to both of us and she allowed Venna and I to be able to serve at such a capacity that we were literally working ourselves to a peak of service... Venna and I were starving to serve the Lord and we did not see a single youth that we did not latch on to and wanted that youth to go to the temple and every young man to go on a mission... While we did that Ruth Good would watch Scott, Becca, and Joshua constantly and never complaining... That includes Bob Good who still has never joined the church... I sat next to Ruth the very first Sunday that we went to church... She heard me sing and I am proudly the only one and I mean absolutely the only person whom she never asked to sing in the choir... Yet, she loved me and cared for me... She supported me in everything that I did.... She was there in Anaheim caring for our family and my children adore's her... She had a son name David who died in his 30ties and that was a painful funeral to go to and yet she was bolstering all of us up... My children love their grandparents in a way that is touching and they also felt the same about Bob and Ruth and what was really cool is that my parents and Venna's parents did not begrudge them one bit but also appreciated the support they gave us.... It helped that while they were helping us with our kids that we also tried our best to reach her teenage children, Linda and Richard Good.... I love Ruth very much and in every passing of my love ones I fear less and less about passing away because many of my best friends are going across the veil... I am anxious to see my Dad and my grandparents and now Ruth will be there and that is comforting.... Ruth could really sing... She had a powerful and yet, a beautiful voice.... She had a snappy personality and never lacked for enthusiasm until the last time I saw her and she looked worn down and beat... You could still see her powerful Spirit but the body was giving out... It was a true testament that the body had it's limits but the Spirit is eternal... Wow, who am I that I should be so close to this woman... Why us?.... Thank you Ruth for loving me, my wife, and especially my children.... We will never foget you and have fun leading the Eternal choir... I love you, Grandma Good.... 39

Braden and Jeff got bit....

Braden got bit by a dog yesterday and the dog really took a chunk out of him... Joshua and I gave him a blessing... Thankfully the doctors told him that he would be fine.... I got bit by Joshua in our golf match today.... He hit a long 30 footer on the 17th hole and I constantly 3 putted so he beat me 88-89... Ouch, I think mine hurts more than Braden... Rachael cut my hair today so I am looking like a missionary again... Mom and I saw a cute movie called "Valentines Day"... 39

Nothing special today....

I had a good day at school but nothing special.... I golfed by myself and shot a 82, nothing special... I am relaxing at home but nothing special... I am going to watch TV with Venna (ahh, that is someone who is always special) but the event is nothing special... Have a special night... 39

Jeff Briggs Love Story by Brett Hart

I found this on google as I was seeing if I could get on my blog from that... On page 4 there was an novel titled Jeff Briggs love story by Brett Hart... I thought it was a novel written by Brent and he was using my name for the main character... I looked it up during my students valetines party... I didn't have time to investigate but it ended up being a novel written in the 1800's... We had Jesse's birthday here yesterday... It was also a day where Mattie had her head hitting the cement with quite a thud... About a half an hour later I could tell that Kari was worried so I asked her if we could give her a blessing... Her tears told me that was what she wanted... Jacob and I blessed her and I was touched by how thankful that Kari was that we did that... I am really impressed with all of my children in law and just how good of parents they are... For this Grandpa it is huge... Joshua and I went golfing this morning and we had a lot of fun... I beat him... I also taught Venna's primary class and that was a lot of fun.... I was impressed with their knowledge of the gospel... McKenna and Braden spent the night with us last night and Venna and I are taking them to see Percy Jackson and The Lightning Thief....

Bo played, game was ugly...

I had a feeling that last week game against Palmdale should have been Bo's last game... These last two games were ugly... They just barely loss to Quartz Hills but everyone on the court was out for themselves and it was just ugly... I think Bo scored 7 points... He had a great high school career and gave this dad some wonderful thrills... He played with all of his heart in every game and I am proud of him... Littlerock just doesn't have a good program and they just can't compete with the other Golden League schools because of population... They should be in the Rosamond league... Taylor finish up also but she did not play much because she was sick... Basketball is over and now it is volleyball and theatre time... Night.... 39

Bo hurt, Taylor sick...

Littlerock played against Knight and Taylor's team got beat by 40 and Bo's team got beat by 40.... Taylor was really sick and Bo hurt his leg early in the 2nd half... Oh well, they had a great season and I really enjoyed watching them... I doubt that either of them will play tomorrow in their last game... Bo looked serious last night but he is getting around better... I just think he needs to make sure that he gets healthy for volleyball season... Taylor is going to try out for a part in the school play, but I told her that she needs to be honest about having at least a few friends that are not freaks... Some of those cast members are pretty scary... Night... 39

Weird Sabbath day....

Ahh, Super Bowl Sunday... Satan's favorite holiday... I have had years where I don't watch the game and I feel miserable all day because I want to know what is happening and then when I watch it I have to ask myself if it was worth it... This Sunday was wonderful though because my California family was here with me... The game was really an excuse to get together because we had a wonderful visit... Jake brought sanwiches and Joshua made delicious hot wings... The grandchildren were delightful and Andy's new hobbie of collecting quarters kind of stole the day as we all tried to find quarters in the house so she could get every state quarter... Everyone got along great and it was a wonderful experience... The Saints beat the Colts, but Grandpa has his children and grandchildren with him so I say Grandpa wins and the Saints are a distant 2nd.... I taught Priesthood and I think it went pretty well... I taught on the principle of having a 98.6 relationship with your spouse and the way that the Lord has created a system to keep harmony between married couples.... Night... 39

I finished my writing....

I finished my writing on Bo's game on the last entry, so if your interested go ahead and read it...

Tay Good, BUT BO is AWSOME....

This is going to be a long one so I am going to write notes on what I will need to talk about... 6'10", rebounding, passing, official, diving for the ball, shooting, 7 points with 4 minutes, Joshua and Taylor.... So I will edit this when I have time to go for it.... Let's start with 6"10"... Palmdale has a player that is much larger than everyone else on the court... Oh there is 4 other players on their team that is in the 6'5" range but his one player is huge... Well, he was given a lob pass deep in the key and he turned around to shoot and Bo came up and blocked his shot... He flyswatted it right out of bounds... He then preceded to scream a loud scream at him... The referee quickly came up and started to chatise Bo for taunting, but then Bo said something to him and I saw the official starting to laugh... I found out later that Bo told him that he could not believe that he could block his shot.... It started a rampage for Littlerock high and they were playing in a frenzy mode and it was all positive... To my utter surprise Bo started to rebound... I believe that Bo got about 10 rebounds in the 2nd half... Oh he didn't jump higher than them but he boxed them out so he was able to get the rebound in front of him as he jumped as high as he could... And everytime he grabbed the rebound he would scream again... He made some of the most beautiful passes.... He got the loose ball one time and threw a forty foot pass to a player already going to the basket and without breaking stride dunk the ball... Bo was constantly hitting the open man with pin point accuracy.... One time he dove for a ball that was about 15 feet away from him and others were closer but as he was sliding on the ground he grabbed the ball and one of those 6"5" guy jumped on top of him and started pushing him while he was on the ground, well the people in the stands were rushing down because they thought the kid was going to beat up Bo, but they both got up and then the crowd went wild yelling Bo's name and giving him a standing ovation... There was only about 30 of us but we were loud and excited... Bo made 3 three pointers and a two pointer in the second half and I personally feel that Preston the point guard blew it by not getting the ball to Bo more because he was hot.... Lttlerock was beat by 40 points the night before by Lancaster and the better team Palmdale was only winning by 7 points with four minutes to go in the 4th quarter... The score was 32-16 at half time... Bo fouled out with two minutes remaining and Palmdale got some easy baskets and end up beating them by 18 points... It was an awsome game and one that I will never forget... Bo will probably never play a game like that again.... Josh and Taylor both wrote on Facebook as soon as they got home.... Wow, I am a lucky Dad... Taylor's team won again and she hit a beautiful 3 pointer and she is really playing good defense now... Night... 39

Same story, Tay glad, Bo sad....

Taylor's team won again and Taylor hit two three pointers in her game... I did not get to see her but Venna said she played great... I went and saw Bo play... He scored 8 points and Lancaster slaughtered them by 40 points... Bo (I don't think I complained all year) just doesn't get the ball when he is wide open... He can't pass the ball and expect it to come back as he drifts away from his defender... I think where they are getting destroyed every game that everyone is kind of in a what's in it for me attitude... So Bo is shooting with a hand in his face almost everytime... Also every team is keying on him too and that is pretty easy because he is the best scorer on the team.... He played excellent defense and he knows that I can be brutally honest about my children's efforts and I will tell you he works hard and plays a very scrappy defense... I am very proud of him..... I am just to tired to write anymore... Night.... 39

Tay good, Bo sad....

Taylor scored 8 points in her last game... But the team lost, and Dad was the biggest loser because he didn't get to see her play... I am glad that there is 2 more years, that is if she plays the next two years... Bo and his team is really hurting in every way possible... They got slaughtered again by Highland... Bo scored 8 points which is pretty good considering the team is kind of freezing him out by not hitting him when he is open.... I think it is what can I do for myself mentality on the team... Don't know what to think because Taylor is constantly getting phone calls from boys all over the Antelope Valley... They are members but it is still disconcerting to me.... I wish Taylor was ugly until she goes to college and then blossom into a beautiful young lady... That isn't entirely true because I am really proud of Taylor and Bo.... Night.... 39

It's been a long time....

Many things took place and I should have been more faithful in writing... Not that any of you missed it but I think it is a way for me to feel that I am keeping the commandments.... I am teaching about the Jewish people in class right now (it is in the history books for 6th grade) and even though I can't go into the detail that I would have liked to if I was at church I was still able to tell them that according to the Torah if they kept the commandments their God would bless them... Well, we are a covenant people also and I feel a little bit of an obligation to keep this journal... Braden Briggs was baptized last Saturday and I was so proud of him and his parents for this great step.... My grandson was baptized, wow, it doesn't get much better than that.... Bo had a lousy week of playing, his shot was off and their best player got hurt so in the three games they played it was pretty miserable... Taylor's team is still winning and she is so much fun to watch because she is now a real basketball player, playing all phases of the game... My favorite play that I have seen her do was jumping up and grabbing a rebound and then in the same motion pass it to her big girl who made a layup.... It was a great play and I really enjoyed it... Our ward is going Bishop crazy now because they all know that Bishop Dassler is going to be released.... I am looking forward to Brian and Rachael getting sealed in a month... Night... 39
